05/04/2009 - Slowly But Surely....

Sorry about the late update. Let begin, shall we?

Isn't this engine compartment a thing a beauty? The radiator is holding water, the generator is charging, the water pump is pumping. All is well. Except that I still do not have it idling quite right. I think it is due to low vacuum. I will get it figured out. It did move under it's own power! I did not go too far as I do not have the brakes bled out yet. And I still need to get the wiring tidied up. Well, actually I need to finish rewiring it first. Compare this to the pictures I took when I first go it!

Of course I had to gouge my newly restored steering wheel. Oh well, I was gonna wrap it anyway. Gauges are in, iginition is in, and you can see the two toggles switches I added. One for the fuel pump, and the other for the electric fan. I like toggle switches. There will be more! Still need to wire up the headlight and turn signal switches. Temperature gauge works. Just like my Amphicar...you are running "No", "Nor", "Norm", "Normal" or "Normal", which is not normal!

Look at this! My roller paint job is starting to shine. Yeah, it is not even close to perfect, but it is good enough. I have also been adding the trim back on. I reused the old trim on the back, and it does have some dings and dongs. Its red badge of courage. The tailights are a little smaller than I expected, but I have them, so I am going to use them. I have ordered up the turn signals and a luggage rack.

I have one engine cover latch, and I put it on this side. The other side will have to wait until I find another one. The trim going down the side is for a Beetle. $1 per piece. I bought 10 pieces. I am going them together, and using the original screw holes off of the KR200 (where they still exist), and ading new holes, I am running the trim all the way down the side. I have plans for the hood area as well, but that is later.

So, what do you think so far? The lifting section can be seen in the background. I have painted the inside, and now I need to finish the body work on the outside.
